India and China

India India in the ancient times was like Mesopotamia filled with city-states. India was also located near a river like the Egyptians. Unlike  Mesopotamia or Egypt, the Indians all stayed as independent states. They used the rivers in the Indus valley to trade through the Arabian sea.  The fall of the Indian states is unknown to us, but the most popular theory is that they were conquered by an unknown empire. All we know is that the Indus valley once had these Indian states. China Past the Indus valley, over the Himalayas, was the Yellow river valley where the Chinese people lived.  In the Yellow river valley, the Chinese people lived in villages where they farmed. The villages were united by Huang Di, The first Chinese Emperor.  During the reign of Huang Di the Chinese people discovered medicine and silk. Silk is a thread made by Silkworms that is used to make clothing. They also made Pictograms that are symbols for different words.

Mesopotamia and Babylon

Mesopotamia  In between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, an area we call Mesopotamia, the people had made cities called city-states and Mesopotamia was divided in many ways. Then a Man named Sargon overthrew the city of Kish and took over Mesopotamia. Sargon named his Empire the Akkadian Empire and ruled as a dictator. Many people didn't like living in Akkadia so they revolted and rioted. When Sargon heard about this, he sent his army to stop the rebellion. He now ruled by a Military dictatorship.  Babylon  Babylon was a city in Mesopotamia that was ruled by Hammurabi. Babylon was a city-state that, like the Akkadian Empire, conquered many other city-states. But unlike Akkadia, he wanted people to like living in Babylon. So he made a set a what he thought to be fair laws. If a man knocks another man's tooth out, he also will lose a tooth. If a man cuts down a tree in someones land he pays for the tree. If a doctor's patient dies, the doctor's hand will be cut off. Hammu

The Nomads In the early times of civilization, the Nomads were people who moved around and hunted like scavengers. They moved around the world looking for food and water sleeping in tents made out of animal skin. They ate lizards, deer, horses, anything they could find. They wore animal skin clothes and scavenged nuts and berries. In the area known as the Fertile Crescent, Nomads settled down and became farmers. They began growing crops and raising animals rather than scavenging plants and hunting animals. They called this area the Fertile Crescent because the Tigris and the Euphrates river ran through it, and because the area was shaped like a crescent moon. The Egyptians The Egyptians were people who lived in Africa near the Africa-Asia border. They also lived in the only African part of the Fertile Crescent. Unlike the Tigris and Euphrates rivers,  the Nile river floods. It always happens at the same time every year, so they always know what to do. The Egyptians were always fighti
