Nomads and Egyptians

 The Nomads

In the early times of civilization, the Nomads were people who moved around and hunted like scavengers. They moved around the world looking for food and water sleeping in tents made out of animal skin. They ate lizards, deer, horses, anything they could find. They wore animal skin clothes and scavenged nuts and berries.

In the area known as the Fertile Crescent, Nomads settled down and became farmers. They began growing crops and raising animals rather than scavenging plants and hunting animals. They called this area the Fertile Crescent because the Tigris and the Euphrates river ran through it, and because the area was shaped like a crescent moon.

The Egyptians

The Egyptians were people who lived in Africa near the Africa-Asia border. They also lived in the only African part of the Fertile Crescent. Unlike the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the Nile river floods. It always happens at the same time every year, so they always know what to do.

The Egyptians were always fighting with one another for all of Egypt. Back then, Egypt was divided by North and South. The North part of Egypt was called Lower Egypt and the South was called Upper Egypt. It may be confusing, but the Nile flows from South to North. So they thought that North was South and vice-versa.

After years of fighting, The White crown had won (the crowns of Lower Egypt were red and Upper were white). They made the two kingdoms one and The Egyptian war was over.
